Isaac James Levy, a photographer based in New York City and a student at NYU Tisch. I explore the intersections of fashion, identity, and storytelling. My work focuses on giving a voice to queer individuals, empowering them to shape their own portrayal in a visual landscape that has historically been decided for us. Collaboration is at the heart of my practice, whether working with signed models or discovering individuals on the streets of New York. Together, we create moments of sanctuary and self-expression through fashion, transforming everyday realities into extensions of identity with a touch of escapism.
Having started making clothing at the age of 7, my journey in fashion was shaped by the mentorship of designer Barbara Hulanicki, who discovered me at 15. This foundation fuels my exploration of beauty within the grotesque—the raw, unfiltered aspects of humanity that transcend into something deeply cathartic and beautiful. Through my lens, I aim to uncover layers of identity and emotion, inviting both myself and my collaborators to delve into the transformative power of play.
